A Happy New Year to all and I wish everyone a healthy and prosperous 2024.
Preparations are nearly complete for the 24th Annual USMA Class of 1971 Tom Martin Shootout. Bill Ewing will be hosting the 2024 event at the A-GA-Ming Golf Resort in Kewadin, Michigan, September 16 – 19, 2024. Details and registration information will be available on the website and sent out via email to all classmates in early February.
As many of you know, we have made some adjustments to the event. First, the Shootout has been moved from its traditional time-slot in June to a Fall schedule. Our intent is to avoid the extreme heat experienced in the past and hopefully attract more participants.
Secondly, we have revised the format of play. Day #1 remains Individual play. Days #2 and #3 are a “Shamble” format (All players play their own ball in from the group’s best drive), and “Scramble” format on Day #4 (All players play the best ball all the way into the hole). The revised format is a bit less stressful on all of us, makes the game fun for all, and keeps play moving.
So, with the cooler weather, northern venue, and revised formats we anticipate an excellent turnout for this, the 24thAnnual West Point Class of 1971 Tom Martin Shootout! I look forward to seeing you all in Michigan.
